Permissions

Browser Extension 💻 Win/Mac/Linux
  • “notifications” – Used to send desktop notifications. For example when a new message arrives or the App is updated.
  • “contextMenus” – Allows adding more settings when you right-click the App icon in the browser toolbar and in the browser context menu.
  • “storage” – Used to save settings on your local computer.
  • “system.display” – Used to detect the display size and position the Extension window (for example “Open panel in new window” or “Open URL Shortener Plus” from the right-click menu).
  • “unlimitedStorage” – Storage is limited to 5MB of data that may not be enough to store all configs.
  • “host_permissions” – Permission to access the page you are on and the URL shortener service (spoo.me), so that the short link and its QR code are ready in one click. Also used to show the Tips – Tricks – News and to allow intercommunication with other WWEvents Apps (i.e. Emojis).
  • “activeTab” – Permission to access the tab that is shown to the user when you click the App icon, to read its URL and shorten it in one click.
  • “tabs” – Used to read the URL of the page you are on in order to shorten it, also when the App is not in Popup mode (“Open panel in new window”).
  • “all_urls” – We cannot predict ahead of time which hosts/domains the user wants to shorten. The extension is capable of shortening any link/url/domain.
